Ingredients:

For the Donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup apple cider (reduced to ½ cup)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

For the Sugar Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

For the Donuts:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut ring baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the apple cider over medium heat until it reduces to ½ cup. Allow it to cool.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the reduced apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a plastic storage bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut rings, filling each about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  1. In a bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the coating.
  2. Brush each cooled donut with melted butter, then dip them into the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring an even coating.

For the Sugar Glaze:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, apple cider, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Dip each cinnamon sugar-coated donut into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set.
